Commissions

If you are not a client of one of the galleries representing my work perhaps I can work with you to create a painting specifically suited to your needs. Gallery clients can initiate a painting commission by contacting the gallery through which they discovered my paintings.

A commission begins with a conversation about the kind of painting you might want. Generally this means size, price, subject, mood or references to earlier paintings. When agreement is reached on a particular theme, one third of the total sum for the painting is requested, less the cost of frame and shipping. Next, a larger painting is completed (usually 9"x 12") which shows more detail and a thoroughly developed concept. At this stage colors and composition are established for the final painting. A final painting does not begin until this smaller piece is approved. I retain possession of all preliminary paintings unless they are negotiated into the final price. These sketches can be made available for sale after the project is completed. I request the second third of the overall payment to begin the final painting. The commissioned work usually takes several months to complete depending on size and the workload currently existing at the studio. Upon completion, digital photographs of the final work are provided and, upon client approval, the last payment is then forwarded. Upon receipt of payment the finished painting is shipped.

Framing

Selection of a frame depends upon a client's needs. Some folks do their own framing, others prefer that I frame the painting for them. I can usually get a frame for less cost than the general public.
